Online Course: Acanthus Drawing & Design (January 08, 2022)

Dear friends,

That is my pleasure to introduce with you my Online Course: Acanthus Drawing & Design (Basic to advance), all levels welcome, and that will be started from January 8, 2022. It includes 10-days lessons, two hours each day (totally 20 hours), and all the courses information will be described below:

COURSE OUTLINE

In this online course, we will discuss about the Acanthus Design & Drawing include these contents:

A. FOUNDATIONAL CONCEPTS

Fundamental concepts of Ornaments Design & Drawing

B. ACANTHUS

I. Basic Acanthus Drawing

1. Acanthus Basic Shape

  • In this session, we will learn how to draw an Acanthus branch and single leaf by using basic shape, analyzing Acanthus construction and work on various forms of Acanthus such as the oblique shape, the folding Acanthus, the curving tip Acanthus, the “S” shape branch,…

2. The Principles of Shape

  • For drawing an ornamental Acanthus or other kinds of ornaments, it is much more convenient for us to learn about the rule of ornamental design. In this step, I will share with you two important rules those are The rule of Spiral and The rule of Infinity loop

3. Pattern Composition and Layout

  • This session is about the Design principles and layout, it helps you to know how we can define the position of Acanthus elements on an artwork. It includes The Principles of Design (Emphasis, Balance, Contrast, Similarity,…), beside that, we will also discuss about the Pattern combination, I will share with you the method of combining two or more Acanthus ornaments together.

4. Some Types of Layout

  • There are some types of layout we will discuss on this session, including Symmetry, Repetition, freestyle

5. Demonstration and finish

  • In this last step, I will show you some demonstrations on Acanthus drawing, step-by-step, how to create a basic ornamental work and there will be Q&A session, we will discuss about Acanthus and art.

II. Advanced Acanthus Drawing

  1. Shape an Acanthus Leaf
  • An Acanthus leaf with 5 lobes
  • A straight Acanthus branch
  • A curved Acanthus branch
  • A pointed Acanthus leaf with detailed folds
  • Bending the Acanthus apex
  • Create a folded leaf

3. Analyze the Acanthus compostition

  • Draw an Acanthus branch
  • Acanthus stump drawing techniques
  • The connective knot

4. Shading Techniques

  • A brief introduction to ornament shading
  • Basic shapes and light directions
  • Simplify the shape of the object
  • Portray tonal values with pencil
  • Basic shading techniques
  • Anatomy of Acanthus leaf
  • Completed shading Acanthus

C. CREATE AN ORNAMENTAL ARTWORK

  • Total fee for joining course: 350 USD
  • Fee includes 2 Ornamental Acanthus manuals

Process of Registration and Payment (Important note)

  2. Confirmation Email: After the submission, you will receive a confirmation email from me within 24 – 48 hours, and DO NOT make the payment before you receive a confirmation email.

  5. Cancellation policy: After making the payment, if there is any reason that you cannot join the course, there is free cancellation for you within 48 hours, the payment will be refunded to your Paypal account.
